FREMONT — Authorities are seeking to identify a person or people believed to have abandoned five dogs in “unkept condition” over several days.
Animal Services located and took in five similar dogs over a 72-hour period, according to a Saturday social media post from the Fremont Police Department. The dogs are all about 4 years old and none have identification. They appear to be small, fluffy breeds, according to photos.
Authorities called the situation “particularly unusual,” leading them to believe that the dogs may have originated from the same person.
Two of the dogs were found at Irvington Park, and one was found under a vehicle on North Grimmer Boulevard, authorities said. A fourth and fifth were found near Quarry Lakes. A sixth dog has been spotted at large in the area of Quarry Lakes and authorities are working to find it.
“The animals are currently safe and are receiving appropriate care and medical attention,” authorities said.
