Zakk Wylde is one of the finest guitarists in all of hard rock and metal.
And Bay Area fans have the chance to catch him not just once, but twice in the same night.
That’s because Wylde is opening up for himself on his current tour, which features two of of his cool metal outfits — Black Label Society and Zakk Sabbath. The trek touches down at The Warfield in San Francisco on March 14.
Black Label Society is the headliner — and rightfully so, given how much worthy metal music this band has delivered since originally forming in Los Angeles in the late ’90s.
Sure, fans will want to hear all the old Black Label Society favorites at the Warfield. Yet, hopefully the group will also use the opportunity to nicely showcase material from its 12th studio album — “Engines of Demolition” — which hits shelves at the end of the month.
Zakk Sabbath, as one might expect from the clever name, is a Black Sabbath tribute — and a really great one at that. Wylde has a lot of experience handling Black Sabbath material, given that he spent years working as the guitarist in the solo band for Sabbath co-founder Ozzy Osbourne. (Wylde also plays guitar for Pantera, so there’s no doubting this guy’s metal credentials.)
It’s also worth noting that Wylde isn’t the only one pulling double duty for this evening. The show actually kicks off with Las Vegas rock act Dark Chapel, which is a fairly new project featuring another Black Label Society musician — guitarist-vocalist Dario Lorina.
Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets start at , axs.com.
