HAYWARD — A city resident was charged with six felonies and a misdemeanor after police in Union City identified him as a local drug dealer with a diverse menu for sale, court records show.

The 29-year-old Hayward man was charged on Jan. 22 with selling cocaine, methamphetamine, ketamine, psilocybin mushrooms and MDMA, court records show. He also faces a misdemeanor count for allegedly selling marijuana. During a Jan. 21 raid of his apartment, police allegedly seized $11,827 in cash, seven ounces of cocaine, hundreds of fake Adderall pills with methamphetamine in them, smaller amounts of other drugs and a pen for detecting fake cash.

Investigators conducted surveillance on the man in December, when they observed him doing a suspected hand-to-hand drug sale with a woman at the Union Landing Shopping Center, according to court records.

The man was released at his first court appearance, records show.

Police identified the man as a drug dealer in a roundabout way. It started last April when one of his friends allegedly fled from police in Union City and got away. While authorities were investigating the other man, who is also a suspected drug dealer, they learned of his association with the Hayward resident. They conducted a records check on him and learned he’d been robbed and shot after arranging an online drug deal in 2021, authorities said.
