Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) girls Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Jan. 26-31.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.
Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.
We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.

On to the nominees:
Mia Borja, Alameda basketball: Borja scored 24 points as Alameda beat Encinal in the Battle of the Island rivalry. The sophomore added seven assists, six steals a block and four rebounds in the victory. She added 10 points in a win over San Leandro.
Deoujenea Clay, Clayton Valley basketball: Clay had a whopping 36 points as Clayton Valley beat Acalanes 65-57 to seize first place in the Diablo Athletic League. She added seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Lita Fakapelea, Menlo-Atherton basketball: Fakapelea led M-A with 29 points and 12 rebounds as the Bears beat Carlmont 73-43 in Friday night hoops action.
Babirye Kiggundu, Berkeley basketball: Kiggundu, a junior shooting guard, scored 29 points to lead Berkeley to a win over San Lorenzo. Berkeley is 3-0 in its last three games after starting 3-11.
Isabella Lawson, College Park basketball: The sophomore had a career-high 26 points in a 58-37 win against Mt. Diablo with three made 3-pointers. She also led College Park to a 58-49 win over Miramonte with 22 points and five 3-pointers.
Kenedi Nomura, Valley Christian basketball: The senior posted 19 points, five rebounds and three assists to help lead the Warriors to a win over Willow Glen.
Katie Tal, Homestead basketball: Tal, a junior guard, scored 27 points as Homestead beat Palo Alto 54-40.
Kimmora Teo, Wilcox wrestling: The senior, ranked in the top 10 in the state and first in the CCS, won the title at the Judy Rider Memorial tournament held at Hollister High on Saturday. She won all her matches by fall (pin) or technical fall (point differential of 15). In the finals, she pinned the second-ranked CCS opponent from Monterey HS.
Emma Vorrises, Woodside basketball: Vorrises led all scorers with 18 points as Woodside beat Jefferson 47-32 in league play.
Lily Wilright, Heritage basketball: Wilright led all players with 15 points as Heritage routed Freedom 58-24 in Bay Valley Athletic League action. She added 11 rebounds, four steals and an assist.
