The annual Los Gatos Rotary CrabFest and Auction is back on Feb. 7 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Saratoga. It’s a night of “seafood for a cause” with all‑you‑can‑eat fresh crab, soup, pasta, salad and dessert and a chance to bid on great auction items. Even better, it’s for a good cause, as proceeds benefit the Los Gatos Rotary Charities Foundation, which supports nonprofits like the San Jose Firefighters Foundation’s Burn Camp. This camp gives young burn survivors a place to heal, belong and just be kids. The fundraising goal is $15,000, enough to send 26 children to camp this year. Details at www.losgatosrotary.org.
The Los Gatos Lions Club is serving up its famous Cioppino Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 31 at St. Mary’s Church, Howley Hall, 6-10 p.m. Expect a four‑course feast, raffles, a live auction and a wine locker raffle. Tickets are $100 at Eventbrite.
Another local service club is also busy helping others: Longtime Los Gatos Lions Club member Mike Wasserman will emcee the Children’s Fund Gala on Feb. 26, raising money for pediatric trauma prevention in local hospitals.
Catch the Oscar buzz with a screening of “Song Sung Blue” at the Monday Morning Movie series on Feb. 2, 10:30 a.m. at the Los Gatos Cinelux Theatre. The series is organized by Los Gatos Thrives. “The purpose of these first Monday movies is to provide a social occasion and sense of belonging, and ultimately a community center,” says organizer Tom Picraux.
New Museum Los Gatos offers free admission on the first Sunday of each month, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Registration is required. Current exhibits include travel photography by R.R. Members of the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce are invited to an exclusive reception with Mayor Rob Moore on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 5:30-6:45 p.m. at the Chamber office, 10 Station Way. Los Gatos Parks and Recreation is marking its 70th anniversary with family outings, including a trip to a San Francisco Giants game and a community photo contest. Categories for the latter include In Motion—hiking, biking, running and sports participation; Beautiful Landscape—trails, open spaces, rustic scenes, sunrises and sunsets; Community Spirit—landmarks, recreation classes, city events, volunteers, cleanups and school activities; and Throwback—recreation memories from 20 or more years ago, including youth, adult, aquatics or Vasona boating.
Good news for walkers, runners and cyclists: A new access point to the Los Gatos Creek Trailhead Connector to Highway 9 Project is now open. The connector features a pedestrian switchback trail and a brand‑new pedestrian/bicycle bridge, making it easier to reach the trail from both sides of Highway 9.
The Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District has plenty to celebrate. Superintendent Heath Rocha announced that the district earned a perfect “All Blue” rating across all measures on the state dashboard—the only district in California to do so. It’s also ranked No. 1 in math statewide. Rocha himself has been named a 2025-26 “National Superintendent to Watch.”
The good news continues: 13 Los Gatos High students were selected for the California All‑State Honor Bands and Orchestra, and four more for the All‑State Choir.
