Mother of twins dies days after husband from crosswalk collision Today Us News

GILROY — The mother of 7-year-old twins has died from injuries she suffered last week when she and her husband were hit by a driver after dropping off their daughter at school, according to authorities and friends and family.

Stacia Stuart, 43, was walking with 44-year-old Andrew Stuart in a crosswalk at Charles Lux Drive and Lopez Way, a block away from Las Animas Elementary School, when a teen driver hit them just after 8 a.m. Jan. 16, according to Gilroy police and the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

Andrew Stuart died at the scene, police said. Stacia was taken to a hospital, and later died, according to the coroner’s office and the family’s supporters in a GoFundMe online fundraising page created late Thursday.

Police said the driver stopped at the scene and that investigators found no evidence of impairment; there is no indication that the driver was arrested or cited. The superintendent of the Gilroy Unified School District confirmed that one of the couple’s children attends Las Animas Elementary, and their other child attends another district school located about three miles away.
