The bakers behind the South Bay’s irreverent but delicious doughnuts have closed the doors of their wild and wacky Psycho Donuts in Campbell, leaving customers worried they’ll never again get to delight in a Bad Elvis or Cereal Killer for breakfast.
But there’s good news: While Bad Elvis may have left the South Winchester Boulevard building, the popular doughnut (peanut butter, bananas and bacon) and others will be making an encore soon.
“We’re already hunting for a new Campbell home — this town is part of our DNA and we’re not going anywhere,” Jay Sanchez and the management team announced. “We needed to expand and upgrade our facilities to keep doing what we do best. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get on the same page with the landlord to make it happen. When there’s no path forward to grow, you make moves. Simple as that. And move we shall.”
They’re also fast-tracking a facility in Gilroy, “which will give us room to go even
bigger and weirder. And we’re cooking up new creations and ideas we can’t wait to unleash.”
No timeline has been announced. Meantime, signs posted at 2006 S. Winchester Blvd. say that Rolling Pin Donuts will be taking over that space. Stay tuned for updates on both shops.
